The ACE's, Adverse Childhood Experiences Study has reshaped our understanding of
trauma. Exposure to traumatic events significantly affects a student’s health, wellness, and
ability to learn requiring a new understanding of create emotionally safe school
environments. School systems, K-12 can respond by developing Trauma Informed Schools and
classrooms. During this training we will learn about the ACE's study, types of traumatic
experiences, implications of the ACE's study and chronic stress has on brain development,
social, emotional, and academic ability as well as protective factors that will build resiliency.
Participants will leave with simple steps school wide communities and classroom teachers can
take to address this epidemic.
