How can you really tell if students understand the concepts you are teaching? This session will
focus on aligning lessons with your goals for students, and how you can get students actively
involved in the assessment process to inform instructional decisions. This session will help you
design your classroom as a collaborative environment where students will be doing the work,
not just you, and how to use observation to gather data about what your students know and
are able to do. You will take with you practical methods to set up, implement, and use
formative assessment and skill-based standards to impact classroom climate and your mental
health in a positive way! This session will use examples and provide strategies for any grade
